Registered Exporter (REX) System

Registered Exporter system (the REX system) is the system of certification of origin of goods that applies in the Generalized System of Preference (GSP) of the European Union since 1st January 2017. It is based on a principle of self-certification by exporters who will make out themselves so-called statements on origin. To be entitled to make out a statement on origin, an exporter needs to be registered in the REX system and to have a valid registration.

Benefit to the importer (Outside India Importer):
The importers imports goods from an exporter holding the rex registration, are exempted from custom duty on import of certain goods. This helps in alleviating the costs incurred by such importers.

Benefit to the Exporter (Indian Exporter):
The rex registration number would be allotted to the exporters once the registration is completed.   After receiving the REX number, the exporter would be in a position to issue the “statement on origin” on his own. He does not have to subsequently go to any of the agencies for issuance of a certificate of origin.
